My Week at Cosmopolitan Magazine

Hello out there!!!!

It's been well over a week since I checked in and its because I have been kicking it in the big smoke (aka Sydney) gaining some AWESOME work experience with the Cosmo Australia team!

I can not say enough about the week that was. I had the best time and am still convinced that gaining work experience with Cosmo is definitely on my list of top 5 best experiences EVER!!

I don't know why I was so nervous, everyone was so friendly! I am so amazed that these ladies even have the time to teach me or any other workie (work experience person) since they are all so busy, but every one of them still had a huge smile on their face. And who wouldn't if you got to work at Cosmo every day?!

I am so sad it's all over. I was sad after day one even because I knew I only had 4 more days left of learning and hanging in Cosmo HQ!

I got to learn so much not only about Cosmo the magazine but got a really good look into what the whole company ACP magazines is all about. I am now officially addicted. I am hooked and know that this is what I want to do for my career. It is an exciting, rewarding career that puts a smile on my face. It's competitive to get into but with some persistence and a lot of learning I think I can achieve a lot.

I was helping out with some of the upcoming issues (most particularly the Feb issue) so it makes me so excited to wait for the new issues to hit the stands to see how it will all come together! Plus there will be a surprise in the Feb issue, I'm not saying any more then that until January when it comes out! Stay tuned!!

It was a bit of a weird feeling meeting and seeing well known ladies from the magazine in the flesh (i.e. the gorgeous Leigh Campbell - Beauty Ed and Alanah Pickup - Junior Fashion Ed often seen in the mag on a regular basis!) It's like meeting celebrities that arent quite as well known but just as cool! lol (I sound slike a dork, yes. But it was a bit of a big deal for a small town girl like me!!)

I feel so lucky and so inspired. I am totally going to per sue this as a career, its my dream job after all!!

Dream big! x

The nerves are coming

I have been a little absent from my blog over the past week and I have to apologise. I have a good excuse!!

I have been back in my hometown working my little buns off trying to get some cash built back up in my so called "savings" account. This week is my official last week of my second year at uni! After my exam on Friday I officially only have one more year left of uni and I am a free woman! WOOO! I can not wait!

In other scary/exciting news, my week of work experience at Cosmopolitan Magazine (that you may have read about back here) starts on Monday!

The current issue of Cosmo Australia }

OMG!!! I am one nerved up work experience girly I can tell you that much!

Do you ever get nervous about work experience or starting a new job? I DO! I know it is such a huge experience and will be most likely an awesome week in the city but I can't help but feel a little anxious about my first day.

Not long to go now! Now all I have to do is get through these last few days of study and my exam and its almost here!!

I am hoping to be able to do a few posts about my experience in the Cosmo office so stay tuned friends!!

OPI Obsession

I confess.

I am obsessed with OPI nail colours! I love them! I have for a while now. I only have a relatively small collection but every time I see an OPI stand I get all excited and can't help but buy more colours to add to the collection. Like today!

I finally found a store in my local town that sells OPI! It sounds strange, I know but I haven't been able to find a place that sells OPI in my town for a while and I swear it hasn't been sold at my local Price Attack for that long!

They had a pretty extensive range and I stood at the stands for a good 15 minutes tossing up what colour to buy and getting overwhelmed in my head with happiness! lol

I decided on "Honk if you love OPI" from the Touring America range. I usually always buy a colour from the pink/red variety so I wanted to go completely different this time.

I really love this colour. I've never been really game enough to wear black on my nails before so this odour is perfect as its a really deep dark purple that is dark enough without being goth-ish!

Please excuse the dodgy-ish paint job! I took this picture before I'd cleaned up the messy bits around my nail!

I already have two other colours from this range, ( "My Address is Hollywood" and "I Eat Mainly Lobster") and I think the majority are super cute!

Do you use OPI? Whats your favourite?

Dream Prints

I spotted this gorgeous print designer on Pinterest earlier in the week. I have seen one of the prints around the inter-webs before but this time I clicked a little further to find out more.

I am in love with these prints! They are by AeroPagita Prints on Etsy and they are divine.

Aw, add any of these to my wish list. I can just imagine them hanging in my home, they are so bright and happy, how could you not smile when waking up to one of these??

Monday Motivation

I'm following in Fit Mum's footsteps today and posting my Monday motivation.

I've been sitting at my laptop for over an hour now slowly plotting through some homework and I've now totally lost my drive.

I think I'll head to the gym because it always gets me feeling 100% more pepped up and feeling like I can tackle more things again.

Whats motivating you this monday?

I only have this week left of uni classes and one exam next week and my year at uni is done! I can't believe it, but the thought of holidays and taking up a real job and earning real money again for the holiday break is really motivating me to push through!

Workout-wear wish list

With the warmer weather fast approaching (and has already made it to us this week, yay!) I start to get a bit "panic-y" about a summer wardrobe!

I love summer but I'm not one to like tight fitting clothes, short shorts or skirts because I get a bit self conscious about it all. I know my body is not huge and I'm an average size 10 woman but I still get nervous about wearing skimpy clothes in summer because you just can hide ANYTHING!!!

It's kind of funny that I feel most comfortable in myself when I'm wearing comfortable work out clothes! Cute singlets, pretty shorts and my joggers are what makes me feel comfy and sporty. I've always said as much as I LOVE my high heels and getting fancied up, I feel most comfortable with my body in flats and comfy clothes.

I love Lorna Jane, and if it weren't for my very small uni budget I'd lash out and shop at her local store everyday. Some of her items are massively expensive but I know that her stuff is leading the fitness wear pack and the quality is definitely at the top! I've been working on my Christmas wish list and some Lorna Jane goodies are on my list.

Here is what I am lusting over right now:

Delight Run Short $65.99

Piper Tank $59.99

Emma Run Singlet (on sale) $40

Ryleigh Sports Bra $65.99

Glory Run Short $65.99

Dynamic Sport Short $65.99

I could go on and on! There are some tights that are new out soon that I love but better stop now or this post could go on forever!!

Here is what is inspiring me this week:

I would LOVE to have these legs and butt for my own so at the gym I have been stepping it up on the leg workouts! I've always had a complex about my thighs and butt so its time to whip it into shape!!!! Plus how cute are those shorts!!!!!

Whats motivating you at the moment?

I saw a Christmas tree yesterday

I saw a Christmas tree yesterday. In fact I saw a whole heap of them in store at my local Big W! The deco's were out and the Big W folks were getting the tree's ready to be decked out in tinsel and glittery ornaments!

Is it seriously time to be thinking about Christmas? Oh God. I have no savings to even begin to think who in my family will be getting pressie's this year!

Source

We all know that it comes around at the same time every single year, but Christmas always feels like it creeps up on me! Plus, for some reason at the end of the year is when I feel like I have the least amount of money saved up and when it comes time to do the annual present shop I freak out at how much I'm going to have to spend on gifts!

I have to admit, I have been slowly and mentally adding items to my own Christmas wish list. I think its so much easier to give someone (like my mum or my sisters for example) a detailed list of goodies that I've been eyeing off throughout the year that would make great presents. I'm sure we've all had the experience where we've been gifted something that we are not in love with so writing a list doesn't feel so greedy. Better that someone spend their money on something that they know they will love then their money go to waste, right?

What is on your Christmas list? I'm going to do mine up soon and post about a few things I'm drooling over! More soon! :)

Back in the land of technology

Hey friends! I am back!

I took total advantage of the long weekend that we just had and made a last minute decision to head back home to spend the weekend with my parents.

We spent the entire weekend on our farm which for most people would seem like it is in the middle of nowhere, and most people would probably be right by saying this!

Our farm is 200km from my home town and is located about half an hour from the small rural "township" (more like a village) called Tilpa on the Darling River, NSW. I had no mobile phone service and out internet isn't quite set up yet at the house so I was totally disconnected from the online world! (We do have TV though so I managed to catch the final scores of the AFL, woo go Swannies!!)

This is where we stay when we visit our farm. Mt grandparents live in the original farm homestead so we built this. We call it the Quarters and it was originally just 3 old donga's (aka shipping containers) put together and now reno'd! We are slowly getting our garden and trees growing!

I love the farm. I am a true blue farm girl at heart and I enjoyed every minute of my time out there. Things are so much more peaceful on the farm.

Its quiet (except for the mass abundance of pretty birds whistling all through the day and into the night), its calming, and since we had no major "farm" work to be done while we were out there, I got to spend time with my mum cooking and drinking cups of tea and I managed to get some drawing/painting done and spent some quality time with my horse (whom I'm sure has missed me even though she clearly shows little affection when I bring out the halter and lead rope which equals work for her! lol)

Splash finally showing me some love! lol

Spending time doing things that I really love makes me feel so grounded again. It really makes me re-think my outlook on life sometimes and I'm starting to learn that in life it doesn't matter what you do, how much you earn or whether you live in the big city or a small town, all that matters is that you are truly happy in yourself.

When I am with my family, friends, boyfriend and lucky enough to spend days on our gorgeous family farm I am truly happy.

How was you long weekend? Did you take a trip or make the most of the free time to stay at home and relax?

I can't believe that it is October already! And "Ocsober" has commenced! That means no alcohol for the entire month of October for me! Are you joining in too??
