Offspring fanatics

Hey there, long time no catch up! Sorry!! My busy life is once again taking over and my chances to sit down and devise good blog posts have been pretty slim.

Anyhow, how are you all? I'm doing super well! I'm actually so excited for today because my boyfriend is traveling down to pick me up for the weekend (as I managed to sell my car - that's another story) and we are going home for the weekend!!! I am actually going home to work but I am excited about that. I just need a little breathing time away from uni and I haven't seen Travis in about 3 weeks so I am super happy!

In other news, Offspring is back on TV! Are you a fan? I have to be honest and say that this is the first season that I have ever seen! (Shame on me!) I have a decent excuse... kind of. Where I grew up we didn't have Channel Ten until about year or so ago so getting to know all of the shows on the channel has been fun.

Plus, Asher Keddie (plays the role of Nina Proudman) came to my home town last year to work on the Channel Ten show 'I Will Survive' so I was keen to see what she was like as an actor!

Well I have tuned in this season and I am slowly getting into the whole Nina Proudman thing. I have noticed that there are some serious fanatics out there! People love this show and all of its quirky-ness.

One blog that I love, Styling You does a weekly wrap up of the show every Thursday with a Nina outfit 'inspiration' post just in case you want to purchase Nina's outfit from that episode! It's pretty cool. Ladies really seem to be into her boho look and it seems to be quite accessible to re-do in your own wardrobe if you want! Check out Nikki's blog, she is fantastic at beauty and style and really knows her stuff!!

One thing I have to say, and I know a lot of fans will want to kick me when I say it; I'm not that sure about Nina's partner Patrick! He seems a bit 'dodgy' to me. That's just me!

What have you got planned for the rest of the week? I'll be computer-less from tomorrow so I'll check in on Monday hopefully! Happy weekend lovelies!

P for POSITIVE

I'm a pessimist. Its a horrible trait and if I am honest, I haven't been trying hard enough to shake it. I always think of the worst possible outcome and then I get myself knotted up in a negative ball feeling glum and not wanting to face the world.

Last night this happened when I was in bed talking to my bf on the phone. I keep thinking that things in my life haven't turned out at all how I had imagined when I was back in high school. I envy those that leave school and fall straight into a career that they love and everything seems to fall into place.

It has taken me YEARS to figure out what I want to do with my life, and this year I am confused all over again?!

Do we ever really work out what we want to be or how we want to live our lives if we are one of those 'unfortunate' ones that didn't strike it lucky the first time around?

Anyhow, I'm getting a bit gloomy again.

Today's word for me is positivity. I am making a conscious effort today to think of happy, positive thoughts to boot my negativity.

So what if I am confused with what I want to do after this degree is over at the end of the year. Who cares if I end up working an average job for a while? At this rate, if it makes me happy - I DON'T CARE!

Do you ever feel like this?

The weekend that was

Its already the middle of the week and I haven't even had a chance to share with you my fabulous weekend that just passed! (WARNING: I've gone a little photo mad on this post!!)

I travelled home on Friday morning so I could attend the annual horse race meet in my home town. I go every year so this year was no exception.

I was SO overly excited to get home because I hadn't seen my family or boyfriend in over three weeks! I even got a special surprise when I arrived home to see that my little sister and her boyfriend had driven all the way down from Townsville to surprise us all with a visit! I was so happy! (They were pretty tired, it was a 22 hour drive!!!! OMG!)

Me on the right with my sneaky little sister Jessie who surprised us all with a visit!

The races did not disappoint either. The day was warm and sunny, just perfect! It was made even more special because my entire immediate family was together again for the first time in five months so I was sure to get snap happy and get photos!

My family *love*

My dress, shoes and gloves were from Witchery (my favourite store clearly lol!) and the fascinator was purchased from Myer. This year I felt more comfortable in my outfit than any other race out fit I had ever worn! It was warmer than usual but I made sure I wore nude stockings anyway.

I love a good day at the races, I got to spend some quality time with my family most importantly and caught up with my awesome friends and gorgeous work colleagues at our business tent!

Some of the team I work with when I am not at uni! Awesome bunch!

Best weekend in a long time! But I am definitely back to reality now and back to uni in the chilly Riverina! We had a cold snap here (as did much of the state) and I am rugged up on the couch as I type.

Also, before I go, I have a car update! My Barina is apparently not worth that much if I want to trade it (which I kind of expected even though I had everything repaired and she is running fine now!) so I am selling it privately and putting the money towards a new VW Golf! I went car shopping with my Dad yesterday and I think that's definitely what I want! Pretty fancy looking small car!

I am hoping that my car sells quickly, comment below if you happen to be in the market for a second hand Barina *wink*

Old faithfuls

Today I was in town looking for a present for a friends housewarming party and I bent down to look at something on the bottom shelf and I heard my jeans rip.

Thank goodness it wasn't in the 'awkward' region! They tore just above my knee. I was devastated! These jeans have been my 'old faithful' skinny leg jeans that I have had for about five years now. After so many wears and washes, it looks like the denim couldn't handle it any more and had worn thin.

What to do with my old faithfuls now? Well, I could embrace the 'torn jeans look' that seems to be increasingly popular right now... or I could experiment with some cute DIY knee patches.

What do you think? Leave them or patch them?!

The lust list

I spent a long time on Pinterest last night while I was tucked up in bed. That website of goodness has a way of sucking me in! So much inspiration, so little time.

Here's what I have been drooling over

A perfect circle

I have been resorting to my old love of crochet to keep me busy when uni work slows down. I had a gorgeous ball of Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino yarn here with me and I wanted to whip up something quick yesterday.

The yarn was probably too precious and soft for this mini project but I used it anyway because I love the colour!

I made some super-simple circle coasters for my house (a set of 4). They turned out perfectly and were the easiest thing to make, EVER! I modified the pattern slightly (you can find my project on Ravelry with notes).

I still have a tonne of left over yarn from the ball so I am going to make a matching dishcloth too!

I love a quick, handmade project!

Bye Bye Barina

Last night was a horrible night. I've been having a tough week and last night definitely topped it off!

I had plans to go for social dinner and drinks after my netball training with some people from the netball/football club and I picked up a friend to come with me. As I picked her up I noticed the temperature gauge on my car was high - like really hot! I decided that once I got to town I would pull over and check the water and oil etc (as instructed by my boyfriend).

Well, turns out the car couldn't make it that far and we broke down in the turning lane of a busy intersection! I had no idea what to do. My friend was thankfully a little more relaxed than I was and we phoned the NRMA to come and help.

Firstly I must say, there are still people out in the world that are kind hearted and willing to help. A couple saw us stranded with my hazard lights flashing and helped us push my car to safety. So thank you SO so much to these friendly strangers, who ever you are!

After the NRMA turned up it was decided that my car had to be towed to the mechanics (whom funnily enough I had booked in to service my car on Monday anyhow!)

So, after almost seven years of life together it might be safe to say that Beep Beep the Barina is on her way out. Even though I had imagined at least another 6 months with her before I would trade her in. At this stage I am waiting to hear her prognosis before I decide what to do, but I am sure I am going to up-grade.

It's kind of sad really. This was my first car, I have had her since I was in year twelve at high school. She has been everywhere with me and there have been fond, and not so fond memories with her but I've always managed to get around OK.

It'll be sad to see her go, but hopefully my next car will be just a reliable (hopefully more reliable in this case!)

Oh also, to top off such a fabulous night, I decided that in my distress after breaking down and then not being able to get anything to eat from town (since by this time all of the eateries kitchens were closed), I was going to spoil myself with an ice-cream from the 24 hour McDonald's which would be open. (Horrible thought I know, but ice-cream makes me happy and I was feeling pretty down at this stage)

Turns out Macca's wasn't serving ice creams last night.

Flock it!

Print-tastic

I have wanted to learn how to screen print for a long time now. I have seen so many gorgeous prints and some awesomely simple ones too and I want to get on this band wagon.

I am thinking if I can master the screen print I may be able to use this skill for a major project I will need to come up with for my final uni semester this year. I have been looking at workshop classes that are offered in Melbourne and unfortunately all of the dates that are available don't suit me. I think I am going to have to try DIY until I can get into a proper workshop. Have any of you done a workshop before?

I have been pinning some print-tastic inspirations while I dream of one day printing too!
