Its been waaay too long!

For those of you that have been following my blog for a little while now you may remember that in 2010 I quickly became addicted to crochet and knitting. Well, after a very looooong break from the needles (and hook) I have finally  picked up a project that has been patiently waiting for me to show it some tender love and attention!

Knitting - I'm back!!!! (lol)

Knitting... I'm back!!

This little number is the soon to be finished (hopefully) "Wurm Cowl", and you may remember me posting about it way back here.

Here's hoping I can get my crafty mojo back! I am hoping to get this little cowl finished and I want to tackle an easy pattern for a knitted blanket. I have an old couch of Mum and Dad's that I'll be using at my new flat for uni so I want to knit a gorgeous throw blanket for it.

If you know any good patterns or have seen some on Ravelry comment below, I'd love to hear about them so I can soon get a wriggle on with it!

Buttercup baby dress...

I just finished making this gorgeous Buttercup Baby Dress! I love it and even though I don't have kids (and no I'm not getting clucky!! lol) I really wanted to give one of these cute projects a go! It was super easy, I used this pattern with modificatins by my crochet teacher Jodie from Jellywares! I used some Cascades cotton rich yarn. It comes in some great colours and I thought that this bright buttercup yellow would look good, also I haven't used this colourway before so it's nice to use a different colour.

It was a great project that worked up super quick and used a couple of shell stitches which you can see in the pic above. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. It's a newborn size so now I just have to wait for someone to have a baby so I can give it to them! lol

Next I'm going to try and make another scarf in a gorgeous purple colour, maybe another cowl but this time a chunky one... still undecided.
I'm going to head over to Ravelry to find a new pattern. I've still got a gorgeous ball of Eco-Wool that I've been meaning to make a scarf out of for my sister Jessie. Might get that started too! Ah too many great projects, I wish I could spend all day being creative!!

No Pink, No Play!

Happy Birthday to my lovely big sister Miss Kate for yesterday! The big 24!! lol You are getting old girl!! (Just joking!!)

Last night was Kate's birthday party, we all had to wear something pink to join in (Girls only!!)
We had an awesome night drinking pink champers and eating marshmellows and strawberries, not to mention the pretty pink cake made with love by our cousin Khan!!

It was a great night to spend time with my 2 sisters and mumma (see piccie above) as well as with other family like my beautiful nan, aunty Rell and little cousins!

In other news, the night before Kate's party, whilst Rog was out with his mates from work to watch the footy, I stayed home in the warm (and in my cosy dressing gown!) trying to whip up a quick beanie for Kate. She had asked me a few weeks ago to make her one (the same as my first beanie I made with the HUGE flower on it) and I only just got my act together and started making it the night before her birthday (so like me to leave it to the last minute!).

I was very lucky and got the beanie done in a couple of hours. I am loving tge chunkiness of the 20ply Nundle wool and how quick it works up to make a project! I was surprised at how quickly I finished it!

It doesn't look like much at the moment but once I get the flower done it should look great. I'm hoping that she'll like it, she did ask to have a black beanie made with a pink flower but I decided to reverse it. Plus once I saw this gorgeous dusty pink colour in the chunky Nundle I loved it and thought it would look great made into a beanie for Kate.

The flower is still a working progress and doesn't look much like a flower at the moment but I'm hoping to get it done sometime this weekend or early next week so I can still give it to Kate not too far after her birthday!

I've also managed to complete the body of the Baby Bear Beanie # 2!! It's looking super cute (just like the other one) and the colour has turned out really nice, the minty green is great for a baby boy. All I need to do is whip up the ears and I'm done... Oh and sew in the left over threads.

Until next post, lets hope you're having a great weekend and maybe working on your own crafty bits and pieces!!

Sunny Winter Days!

Today was such a nice day here in town, the sun was out and warm (for the most of the day) and we haven't had nice weather like this in the last week or so! Roger and I were up relatively early (for a saturday... I like to sleep in, especially on a long weekend!) and we took the new (old) Merc for a drive. Roger picke dup my little cousin Jack to go for a spin in the car and he loved it! I think he really enjoyed crusin' around with Rog in the old school car listening to old school music on the radio. He even scored a pair of Rogers old sunnies to wear while we were crusin around! It was sooo nice driving around town with the warmish sun and the windows down... sounds so corny, but it was a great start to our Saturday!

After a beautiful start to the day catching up with some of the family, I made it down town for another crochet class! I'm about halfway through my black lacey cowl and it is starting to look really good! I can't wait to finish it! I'm hoping to get it done by this week if all goes to plan with my study and my second uni exam on tuesday (*sigh*). I also went a little crazy and stocked up on some gorgous yarns to get startd on some new projects! I just love seeing (and buyin) all of the gorgeous fibres that Jodie has stocked in her shop. I can't help it that every time I go in I end up buying something!

Firstly I purchased some gorgeous Shiloh Wool skeins of 8ply hand dyed wool. Ahh I just love the colours these skeins come in, especially the minty green colour and this beautiful "citris". I'm going to be using these skeins to make 2 baby bear beanies using a super cute pattern which I will link to in my next post! I can't wait to make them for Roger's new baby cousin's, baby Mateo and baby Emmanuel. We haven't met the new additions yet but we are heading back to Syndey in July and I'd love to be able to give them a small handmade gift when we get there!

Next I purchased a beauitful skein of Heirloom Alpaca wool (8ply).
This stuff is sooo nice and soft! I love Alpaca's! I've always wanted one, but I'll just settle for their wool for now! lol I'm going to be making Roger a wide hair band to keep his dreadlocks back in place. I've started it already and its looking great! I think he'll be pleased with his first homemade project!
I've got so much going on at the moment and I just can't wait to sink my teeth into all of these new projects (and current projects that I'm still yet to finish!)

A new found hobby!!

I have recently started classes in learning how to crochet and have realised that I love it! I love the feeling of being able to make something and say "I made that!" It's relaxing and fun and I'm totally enjoying my classes that are run by a local lady that has recently opened her own shop in town called "Jellywares". She stocks all types of homemade things and some gorgeous fibres and wool used for knitting and crochet!
I've started my first ever proper project which is a beanie hat made out of 20 ply wool, it's taking shape really quickly and I'm super proud of it!
Still a working progress however, hopefully I'll be done by this weekend and then on to the next project!
